The Traumatised Horse ![]() Where we are dealing with a traumatised equine, they can be fearful of people and hide in the corner of their stable, flinch when touched and clearly shows that they have had a nasty experience. Simply because of their size, people can mistakenly think that horses are rufty tufty animals, insensitive to touch or that, because of their size, they need to be shouted at and be pushed and shoved about. They are often bullied because people don't understand what sensitive creatures they are - both to the touch and in their child-like souls. It's a sad fact that some horses are intentionally tortured, neglected or abused and so traumatised by people. Massage can help to rebuild their confidence with a gentle, healling touch and reassurance. As well as the emotional reponse, there will also be a beneficial physical response from the nervous system as massage helps to relax and lift their spirits. Simply, the TLC of massage will help to ease any physical and psychological pain. The benefits of Bach Flower remedies can also assist with healing past trauma and providing new hope for the future. |
