Reiki Explained ![]() What is Reiki? Rei = Universal Energy Ki = Life force. It is called "chi" in martial arts To best explain Reiki, consider that the universe is made up of energy ... this is a scientifically proven fact. Now remember from your school physics lessons that energy cannot be destroyed, it simply converts from one form to another. e.g. kinesthetic, heat, light and friction ... and healing. The "spirit" that is mentioned in religion or festivals such as "Mind, Body & Spirit" or the word "spiritual" is actually about the energy which flows through every living being bringing it to life. To use an analagy ... consider a microwave oven. The microwave oven itself is our body and the computer chip is our mind, neither of which are brought into life until they have electricity running through ... this is the energy ... the spirit. A Reiki Practitioner sends healing energy to the individual in order to rebalance the flow of energy through the body and sending healing energy to areas which specifically need it. As the energy is channelled, it is quite often felt as heat by the recipient. It can be used to heal the physical and emotional bodies, helping to release energy blockages thus promoting spiritual wellbeing. It strengthens the immune system, relieves pain, clears toxins, reduces stress and leaves you with a sense of peace and relaxation. The Reiki Ideals: Just for today do not anger Just for today do not worry Just for today i will give thanks for my many blessings Just for today I will do my work honestly Just for today I will be kind to every living thing. |
